Smita, I've heard that ashram school takes registration as soon as a child is born or even when the mom is pregnant.... but not sure. Please call them and check. Also if you are going for CBSE schools, most of the schools give admission into LKG only when the child is 3.5yrs old in the june. So since your son is 2008 born, you should take application form next year around this time if you are putting him in pre-kg or take the form in 2011 if you are putting him in lkg. This is for CBSE schools.
This is really great indeed... I called Chettinad Vidyashram, RA Puram couple of days back and they asked me to call by end of this month (Oct) to get the admission form dates, which will be in Nov 09...
Kola Perumal Chetty Vaishnav Senior sec School - Applications are given on 1st Dec. Can be submnitted the same day also and will be called upon for the interview.
The requirements for submitting the application:-
Parents Joint photo (small size) Childs photo - Each two.
Child blood group certificate.
Child's fitness certificate.
They start to give at 8 am but the que will be standing from 5am.
Applications are given only on one day. First come first served basis.

Hey... Heard that Pre-KG admissions in Bala Vidya mandir is already closed. There is no update on their site, but when a friend of my hubby went there in person, they said that the pre-kg admission for 2010-11 is closed and no admissions are entertained for LKG 2010-11, as pre-kgies this year will be promoted to next years LKG.
I would suggest you to call them or visit them in person to get this confirmed, as still there is no update in the site and avoid any misunderstandings.
I am new to this Chennaimoms. I got admission for my daughter who is 2 yrs old in Aschool(sister concern of Chettinad Vidyashram). Heard the admission is still going on. Try this site www.aschool.in for further details.
hi friends this is pooja . i want to know about jawahar vidayalaya in ashok nagar. how about the quality of education and extra curricular activities in this school. can anyone help me in this aspect.
hey, I can help u guys with information regarding psbb schools. My daughters are studying there.
the application is issued during november 2nd or 3rd week every year. the date may change so I have given as 2nd week.
The age criteria is kids should be in the age group of 2 years to 3 and half at the time of admission i.e december 1st to next year november 30th. those who miss to get the application within this span will be ruled out. so, if your kid is 2 years and above this year make sure to get the application by november. the dates will be given later and I can definitely post it at that time 'cos we will be issued a circular.
I found this details in some other website but i think it will help to our mom.
(1) Pon Vidyashram - Branch of Padma Seshadri school, located in Injambakkam and is a typical middle class CBSE School. Getting admission is not that difficult except we have to appear for a test and pay a bit of donation (not much) and the school fees will be in the range of Rs. 8000 to Rs. 12000 per annum depending upon grades/standards. School is ok with adequate infrastructure but nothing great.
(2)PSBB Millenium - Branch of Padma Seshadri school and will be open in Year 2010. Will be located at DLF Garden City in Navalur on the OMR (Located behind Satyabama Deemed University) and getting admission will be a cakewalk as competition will be less. Not sure about infrastructure or teachers as it will be completely new. However since it follows CBSE Syllabus, the good part is upto 8th Standard (Grade), there will not be annual exam but will follow 6 cyclical tests which are pretty easy to handle (Just like trimester or semester pattern which we followed in college).
(3) Headstart - Located at Thoraipakkam at OMR road (Close to Infosys) which follows IGCSE Curriculum and has got good infrastructure. Class size is 25 - pretty small compared to Indian standards, Active-based learning, Friendly teachers and many pros but the biggest con is IGCSE curriculum which is different from CBSE. If folks want to put their kid till 5th grade, then it's a very good school or even one can think of putting their kid till 8th grade and then transition to CBSE board at 9th grade.
(4) Gateway - Located at Sholinganallur and Kelambakkam, Follows University of Cambridge curriculum, has excellent infrastructure including A/c Classrooms, Activity based learning, Focusses on Sports/Extracurricular activities and fees are expensive. Same like Headstart where kids can initially study here till 8th grade and then can transition to CBSE board at 9th grade.
(5) ParentsChoice - Located at Sholinganallur, follows SPICE methodology, School focusses only till 6th grade, Montessori syllabus, Activity based learning and can be certainly considered till 5th grade. After 5th grade, one can transition themselves to CBSE board at 6th grade.
(6) Suthananda Vidyalaya - Located at Uthandi in ECR, follows CBSE School, run by charity organization focussing on low middle class families, low to moderate infrastructure. Initially our kids might struggle due to infrastructure issues but can be certainly entertained at middle school or high school where our kids will be used to India.
Bal Vidya Mandir (Adyar): In March 1st week a list will be posted on their premises of the classes that have vacancies. If you are interested then you will be required to bring the child in March 2-3rd week for an enterance exam, if your child meets requirement then will get back to you. We were not allowed to see the school, but from what I could see was that there was very little open area.
PS Secondary (Mylapore): The lady in the office told me straight away that I better look at other schools as the chances are very remote of securing admissions as they have very few if none vacancies at all. We walked around the open areas of the school and noticed that the facilities were very minimum and were older than other schools we visited. Also one could see that kids from all stratas of society were represented, like a Vadyar's kid and the kind that had cars/maids to fetch the kids (during school leaving hours).
Vidya Mandir (Luz?): Same thing as PS school and they asked me contact them in late Feb to see if there are going to be vacancies, then they will give an application form and test will be held in April. The premises were small compared to other schools I visited...very little play areas.
Chettinad Vidyashram (MRC nagar): The office was very helpful and the Vice Principle even saw us without an appointment...wow! He was very informative and told us to pick up an application in March and bring the child for test in April, to test for Math, Science and Hindi. We told him the child would not be completely prepared for second language (Hindi) and that his score may be low to which he said that the child will be excused from taking the language exam. We walked around the school and liked what we saw and the kids seemed nice. The school is set on a large compound and there were enough open areas/pockets between buildings and the had a large VERY clean swimming pool and the school has over 40 extra curricular activites available to kids including some that are more intense and have weekend hours.
These details also i found from some other site but i am not sure so please post your reviews about these statement ...
