I stay in a joint family and having a kid of 2 and half years age who is taken care by my mother in law.I m staying in pallavaram. I am planning to put my kid in any famous reknowned school in city. But my problem is we both are working. As primary classes timings will be till 12. I just wanted to know how you all are managing with kids regarding school. If both are working who ll take care after 12 to 7. If it is day care, who ll pick up kids from school to day care? Who ll teach him lessons, homework , and any extra classes etc.. How you all managing alone without anyone's support when both are working.. How do you plan cooking, household works, managing kid etc.. I need your responses..

Managing kids after school for working moms..pls answer
my suggstion for u is better u can put ur kid in any reputed montessori schools like (sharanalaya, patashala, vriksha (udayanidhi stalin son is studying but still he also has to sit on mat AND no partiality)
IN montessori system there is no home work (as u both of u are working)
from the school same auto man can take ur kid and leave in any day care centre near by.
WHY MONTESSORI ???
it is not just they dont have home work.
THEY concentrate more on
DISCIPLINE,creativitiy, independent (like startng from entering in to school removing shoes, socks, washing hands taking mat and sitting.. like this , i feel kids enjoy all this and this becomes their routine)
everything on their own ... i feel many good things they teach along with curriculam.....
If you put her in a Day care, you need to either make arrangements for someone to pick her from school to Day care or check if the day care have that facility. Additional classes - you either need to put her/him during weekends or again get someone to drop and pick up. Try looking for a day care where they will spend about 30mins on studies. It is difficult to get the attention span of such a small child early in the morning or late in the evening.
someone resides.....what you are asking is a difficulty that most parents face.....let me tell you a routine that I know....you can drop off the kid in the morning....but in the afternoon, the school van would have to drop off the child in someone's house.....this is because, children would ideally need to take some milk or fruits and a nap....after they get up from nap, they would need some freshly made tiffin...and then a lot of playing....day care is not a good idea for these aspects.....either you need to look at your parents' or your husband's parents for this kind of support...I had and still have my parents for the children....they are an inseparable part of the children's routine....cooking is no big deal....we adjust when we can't cook....there are a lot of instant foods available right from idly/dosa batter to heat and eat side dishes....
I have no support system from parents or in-laws as they are not in the same city and not willing to relocate for various reasons.
I drop my son to school and go to office. The day care centre van picks him from school. While returning from office, i pick him and go home, and then cook dinner, and then teach him or just play with him.
Are they reliable?? Will they take the child from school with care? How about the food and snacks?? How much they charge for the day care if it is from 12 to 7?
I have two children 3 year and 1 year old Boys... I have absolutely nil support system !! no in laws or parents to help .... extremely busy hubby n on top of it no maid[3 maids came and went] !! So............... I cant go to work rather I quit !! I was working till my second pregnancy was forced to quit because no support system.....
Why I am telling you this ?? Because In India its not possible to raise children going to work without proper back up .... we defiitely need some reliable help to take care of your children when u r away.... it can be a baby sitter whatever...but then we have to make sure that they are properly taken care of ....... if u want to sit back and work effectively in office...otherwise thigns go topsy turvy...head reels...and everything upside down ....
hence I chose to sit at home and take care of my children...one more secret.... I work from home which may not be a very high income job but then it gives me some scope to release my energy somewhere other than home !!
Srividhya - would be good if you provide information on how to work from home, what kind of training might be needed for that, it would be useful.
In my case, the day care was reliable as far as i had heard from others using it, so went for that option, but yes, there will always be a pinch of worry in the back of our mind when we make use of day care / home maids for taking care of children. Leaving the job is a good option if you are financially sound otherwise, and if i do have a second child, i guess thats the option i would take.
