yesterday i made sirapunji sweet (urad dal balls in coconut milk)
i soaked urad dal for an hour and grind them in mixie. After that i made small balls out of it and fried in oil as we do for vada.. but the balls veduchuthu..
romba big balls illa, very small balls.. these type of ones i had done for kids and given long back. i dont know why urad dal bals burst? had this happened to any one of u? what could be reason..
urad dal soaked for one hour. then grind with a pinch of salt. Deep fry as small balls and keep aside. Now extract coconut milk, add sugar, elachi to it.
soak the urad dal balls in cocnout milk for atleast 15min. sirapunji is ready..
I experienced the same with uradh vada once and still have the scar on my hand/!...The reason was the dough was tight...also that it was little coarse. Share how your dough was.
After this incident I stopped with uradh vada for quite some time..Later tried it in someone's house and felt this should 've been the reason ,comparing mine and friend's dough.
yes poornima, i think that is the reason.. mine was also tight, since i wanted to make small balls, i didnt add water. also it was coarse.. that could have been the reason.. finally found the mistake.. but the taste was too good..
am sure u wud ve not drained water properly .. this has happened to me also . these days i drain them in a cotton cloth and then grind it .. if u want softer and good bondas u can boil potato and mash them wid this dough and fry it ...
Hey Sugi..is the same wat we call as pal bonda..?...we make small bondas with urid dhal and salt...but instead of coconut milk..at times we will add normal milk also..
